Bollywood actress Tanushree Dutta — known for spearheading India’s #MeToo movement in 2018 — has posted a distressing video on social media, alleging ongoing harassment within her own home.
In the emotional video, which has gone viral, Dutta is seen crying and detailing the mental stress she claims to have endured over the past four to five years. “I am being bothered in my own house. I have called the police and they told me to visit the police station to file a formal complaint. Maybe I’ll do that tomorrow — my health isn’t well,” she said in the video posted on her verified Instagram account.
The actress alleged that domestic employees, hired to help with household chores, have been “sent by others” and are involved in stealing her belongings and disturbing her mentally. “I have to do all the work at home myself because I cannot trust anyone anymore. Every maid who comes either steals or behaves oddly,” she added.
Dutta, who rose to prominence in the early 2000s and later became a leading voice against sexual harassment in the Indian entertainment industry, said her health has significantly deteriorated as a result of the ongoing stress. “My nature has changed, my house is in complete disarray, I can’t even take care of myself anymore,” she said.

In a separate video shared later, Dutta claimed she regularly hears disturbing sounds near her home. “I hear loud voices and blasts near my door and on the roof every single day. This has been happening since 2020. I have complained to my building management several times, but no one has taken action,” she said.
To cope with the stress, she said she resorts to listening to Hindu chants through headphones. “That’s the only way I can calm my mind now,” she stated.
Dutta also revealed that she has been diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome, a condition that causes extreme tiredness and impacts daily life. She said the constant noise around her residence has further worsened her condition. “I posted about this yesterday, and the same thing happened again today. People should now understand what I am going through,” she said, adding that more details would be shared in the First Information Report (FIR) she plans to file.
There has been no official response yet from Mumbai Police regarding the incident. Dutta’s statement has prompted widespread concern from fans and fellow artists on social media, many of whom have urged authorities to intervene and ensure her safety.
In 2018, Tanushree Dutta became a central figure in India’s #MeToo movement when she accused veteran actor Nana Patekar of harassment on a film set, an allegation that sparked a broader conversation about workplace misconduct in the Indian film industry.
