Today’s much-anticipated World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025 clash between the Pakistan Champions and India Champions in Birmingham has been cancelled following the refusal of Indian players to participate.
The Indian cricketers – Irfan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan, Harbhajan Singh and Shikhar Dhawan – declined to face the Pakistani side, reportedly citing the inclusion of Shahid Afridi as their reason. “If Afridi plays, we shall not,” said the Indian contingent, according to tournament officials.
The match had been scheduled for 8.30 p.m. at a packed venue in Birmingham. The WCL management confirmed that all remaining fixtures in the tournament will proceed as planned. Spectators who purchased tickets for today’s match may claim a refund through Cricket Lorz.
It is pertinent to note that Pakistan Champions have secured a 5-run victory against the England Champions in a tournament opener. In a subsequent match, South Africa Champions edged out West Indies Champions in a ball-out.
