Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has released a monsoon fact sheet detailing damages caused by seasonal rains.
The fourth spell of monsoon is expected to begin this evening.
According to the fact sheet, 135 people have died and 479 have been injured so far this year due to monsoon rains in Punjab. Most fatalities occurred as a result of collapsing roofs, dilapidated structures, and mud houses. Other causes of death included lightning strikes, electrocution, and drowning in rivers while bathing.
The report also provides updated water levels in Punjab's rivers, barrages, and dams. Currently, Mangla Dam is at 49 percent capacity, while Tarbela Dam is at 79 percent. The Indus River is witnessing medium-level flooding at Tarbela, Chashma, and Taunsa points.
PDMA Director General stated that financial assistance is being provided to the families of victims on the instructions of the chief minister. Citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel during bad weather conditions.
