Bigg Boss fame and Tajikistani influencer Abdu Rozik was detained at the Dubai International Airport early Saturday morning on allegations of theft, his management has confirmed.
The 21-year-old was returning from Montenegro when he was taken into custody around 5am.
‘He was not arrested, only detained’, says management
Rozik, a well-known singer and social media personality, was released after giving his statement to the authorities. His management clarified that he was not arrested but merely detained for questioning.
“First of all, he is not arrested. He was only detained by the police. Abdu Rozik gave his explanations and was released,” a spokesperson from the S-Line Project, which manages Rozik, told Khaleej Times.
“Secondly, information in media is not correct. We will take all legal action to protect Abdu Rozik and his image,” the management added, confirming that the influencer would still attend an award ceremony in Dubai later in the day.
Nature of complaint remains unclear
While Rozik’s team has acknowledged the detention, they have not disclosed the specific details of the theft allegation. No official statement has been issued by the Dubai authorities so far.
“All we can say is that we are aware he has been taken into custody on allegations of theft,” his management told News18, declining to elaborate further.
The team further stated that they would issue a complete explanation soon, particularly to address his Indian fans where Rozik enjoys immense popularity following his stint on Bigg Boss 16.
Rozik, who stands slightly over three feet tall due to a growth hormone deficiency, has become a household name in the Middle East and South Asia. Despite a difficult childhood in Tajikistan — where he was bullied, denied books, and only received three years of formal education — Rozik found fame through his singing and viral content.
He holds a UAE Golden Visa and has been a Dubai resident for several years.
From reality TV to boxing and business
In 2024, Rozik expanded his public persona by launching his restaurant brand “Habibi” in the UK and making his boxing debut at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai.
Previously, in 2023, he had been questioned by India’s Enforcement Directorate in connection with a money laundering probe involving a hospitality company. However, he was not officially listed as an accused in the investigation.
