Fashion designer and actor Deepak Perwani has dismissed long-standing claims about being the “richest Hindu in Pakistan”, calling such reports baseless and misleading.
In a statement posted on the micro-blogging platform X (formerly Twitter), Perwani expressed frustration over what he termed as “fake propaganda”.
The designer shared multiple screenshots of online articles that have for years circulated the unverified claim that he holds the title of the wealthiest Hindu in Pakistan with an alleged net worth of Rs71 crore.
“Enough of this fake propaganda. It was funny but now it's not even funny,” Perwani wrote, directly addressing the falsehoods.
The origin of the claim remains unclear. First surfacing in a 2022 media report with no credible sourcing, the story has since found its way onto various social and digital platforms, often without verification. Perwani’s recent statement is the first time he has publicly addressed the rumour.

Born in 1974 in a Sindhi Hindu family in Mirpur Khas, Sindh, Deepak Perwani is known for revolutionising Pakistan’s fashion landscape. He launched his label in 1996, later earning widespread recognition for both bridal and formal wear under his brand 'DP'.
Perwani's contributions to fashion have garnered him several accolades, including seven Lux Style Awards, five BFA Awards, and the Indus Style Guru Award. He was also honoured internationally when he was ranked sixth among the world’s top designers at the Bulgaria Fashion Awards in 2014. Notably, he also entered the Guinness Book of World Records for stitching the world’s largest kurta.
Apart from fashion, Perwani has made notable appearances on screen, acting in television dramas such as Mere Paas Paas, Kadoorat, Yunhi, and Qarz-e-Jaan, as well as films like Punjab Nahi Jaungi and Altered Skin.
Despite his public recognition and successful career, the designer has now clarified that the claims regarding his wealth are fabricated and unsubstantiated.
