China has been in contact with Iran, Israel and relevant parties and looks forward to the realisation of a "real ceasefire", China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi told his Turkish counterpart in a phone call on Tuesday.
All parties should resume dialogue on an equal basis and return to the path of a political settlement of the Iranian nuclear issue, Wang said, according to a statement from his ministry.
The Palestinian issue is still at the heart of Middle East issues, he added.
Earlier today, Türkiye welcomed reports of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran, urging both sides to fully adhere to the truce and stressing the urgent need for a comprehensive peace in the Middle East.

In a statement issued by the Turkish Foreign Ministry, Ankara expressed cautious optimism over the ceasefire but voiced concern over reports of potential violations. The ministry called on both nations to respect the agreement during what it described as a "critical period" for regional stability.
"We welcome reports indicating that a cease-fire has been agreed upon between Israel and Iran. At the same time, we are closely following statements suggesting that the cease-fire has been violated," it stated.
"We call on the parties to fully observe the cease-fire during the critical upcoming period. The Middle East urgently needs peace and stability more than ever," the statement read.
Türkiye calls for lasting peace and dialogue
Underscoring the urgency of peace in the conflict-ridden region, the ministry emphasized that the Middle East needs peace and stability more than ever and urged all parties to take determined steps toward a lasting and comprehensive solution.

"At a time when the Middle East needs peace and stability more than ever, steps towards a comprehensive and permanent solution must be taken with determination. In this context, we believe that keeping channels of dialogue and diplomacy open is of vital importance," the ministry noted.
The ministry also highlighted the Palestinian issue as a central root cause of ongoing instability in the Middle East, reiterating that it must be addressed as a priority to pave the way for broader peace efforts.

“The process has shown once again that the Palestinian issue, which is at the root of many problems in the Middle East, must be resolved as soon as possible,” it said.
Erdogan: ‘Türkiye will uphold international law, prioritize diplomacy’
Speaking to reporters at the airport in Ankara ahead of his departure for the NATO summit in the Netherlands, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan reinforced Ankara’s position, calling for restraint from both Israel and Iran while underlining the role of diplomacy.
“Türkiye will resolutely maintain its principled stance that upholds international law and prioritizes diplomacy,” Erdogan said at Ankara Airport.
He also strongly condemned Israel’s broader regional actions. “Israel's 'reckless actions -- starting with Palestine and extending to Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, and ultimately Iran -- are absolutely unacceptable,” the president said.
