Türkiye has welcomed reports of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran, urging both sides to fully adhere to the truce and stressing the urgent need for a comprehensive peace in the Middle East.
In a statement issued by the Turkish Foreign Ministry, Ankara expressed cautious optimism over the ceasefire but voiced concern over reports of potential violations. The ministry called on both nations to respect the agreement during what it described as a "critical period" for regional stability.
"We welcome reports indicating that a cease-fire has been agreed upon between Israel and Iran. At the same time, we are closely following statements suggesting that the cease-fire has been violated," it stated.
"We call on the parties to fully observe the cease-fire during the critical upcoming period. The Middle East urgently needs peace and stability more than ever," the statement read.

"At a time when the Middle East needs peace and stability more than ever, steps towards a comprehensive and permanent solution must be taken with determination. In this context, we believe that keeping channels of dialogue and diplomacy open is of vital importance," the ministry noted.

The ministry also highlighted the Palestinian issue as a central root cause of ongoing instability in the Middle East, reiterating that it must be addressed as a priority to pave the way for broader peace efforts.

Erdogan: ‘Türkiye will uphold international law, prioritize diplomacy’
Speaking to reporters at the airport in Ankara ahead of his departure for the NATO summit in the Netherlands, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan reinforced Ankara’s position, calling for restraint from both Israel and Iran while underlining the role of diplomacy.
“Türkiye will resolutely maintain its principled stance that upholds international law and prioritizes diplomacy,” Erdogan said at Ankara Airport.
He also strongly condemned Israel’s broader regional actions. “Israel's 'reckless actions -- starting with Palestine and extending to Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, and ultimately Iran -- are absolutely unacceptable,” the president said.
Ceasefire in Gaza and global responsibility
President Erdoğan further urged the international community to act decisively, underlining that the region could not bear the burden of an Israel-Iran war. He urged giving diplomacy a chance to prevent further escalation.
“A permanent ceasefire must be established in Gaza as soon as possible. Israel’s attacks must stop, and uninterrupted humanitarian aid must be allowed in,” he said.
