Iraq's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has voiced alarm over Iran’s recent missile strike on the US Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, warning that the escalating conflict poses a serious threat to regional stability.
In an official statement released Monday night, the ministry said it is monitoring the situation with “deep concern,” calling the incident a dangerous escalation in an already volatile region.
“This development is a development that Iraq has long warned against, given the grave risks it poses to the security and stability of the entire region,” the statement read.
The ministry described the Iranian missile attack as a “dangerous and unprecedented turning point in the conflict” and cautioned that it could lead to the expansion of hostilities across the Middle East.
Calling for diplomacy over confrontation, Baghdad reiterated its longstanding position that regional crises cannot be resolved through violence.
“We stress that the only path to resolving such crises is through meaningful dialogue and mutual restraint,” the statement concluded, urging all involved parties to avoid further escalation.
