Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari has termed the recently announced Punjab Budget 2025–26 as “historic in every respect”, saying it brings unprecedented investment across multiple sectors, with major relief and development initiatives for journalists, artists, and the general public.
Addressing a press conference in Lahore after the budget announcement, Bukhari said, “The way this development budget has been presented, it is truly historic. No previous government has invested this much in so many sectors at once.”
Highlighting key initiatives, she announced that health cards will soon be issued to journalists and artists, a promise that had previously been left unfulfilled. “The health cards were pending printing. We will now ensure they reach journalists and artists very soon,” she said.

She also revealed that a Cinema Fund is being introduced to support the film industry, and that a Film City will be established in Punjab, signaling a renewed focus on promoting cultural and creative industries. “We are going to give film funds within a few days,” she added.
To further support the media community, Bukhari shared that a Journalist Housing Foundation is being formed. Additionally, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed the development of a dedicated housing city for artists.

“We will do everything possible for the welfare of journalists,” Bukhari emphasized, reiterating the government’s commitment to the creative and media sectors.
The information minister also stated that Punjab offers the highest salaries and pensions among all provinces. “We have increased salaries and pensions to the maximum extent possible,” she said.
In praise of the chief minister, she said, “Maryam Nawaz never makes promises she cannot fulfill. The budget she has given is truly historic.”
