The United States Consulate General in Lahore on Thursday issued a security alert for its staff and American citizens in the city, urging them to relocate to safer areas following reports of a drone being shot down in the provincial capital.
According to the advisory, the Consulate has instructed its personnel to move to secure locations amid concerns that airstrikes could follow the incident.
"There are reports of a drone being shot down in Lahore. Airstrikes may occur. All personnel are advised to move to a safe location immediately," the alert read.
The Consulate also advised American citizens present in potentially affected areas to evacuate without delay. "If departure is not safe, individuals should shelter in place until further notice," the statement said.
While the origin of the drone remains unconfirmed, the development comes amid heightened tensions along the Pakistan-India border, with a surge in drone activity reported across multiple cities in recent days, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Bahawalpur, and Nankana Sahib.
