Sindh Governor Kamran Tesori made a significant proposal calling for a substantial reduction of 140 rupees in the price of petrol.
The governor's suggestion was revealed during his visit to the shrine of Pakistan's first Prime Minister, Shaheed Liaquat Ali Khan, on the occasion of his death anniversary.
Governor Tesori paid his respects at the sacred site by reciting Fatiha and shared his thoughts in the guest book.
Mr Tessori's bold proposal comes in the wake of a recent announcement by the caretaker federal government, which declared the largest reduction in petrol prices in the country's history on October 15.
This reduction was attributed to falling global oil prices and a more favorable exchange rate for the Pakistani rupee against the US dollar.
The government's initial move resulted in a price reduction of 40 rupees for petrol, bringing it down from Rs323.38 paise to Rs283.38 paise per litre.
High-speed diesel also saw a decrease of 15 rupees, with the price falling from Rs 318 18 paise to Rs 303 18 paise.
Meanwhile, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar Haq Kakar has further directed authorities to ensure that the benefits of reduced petroleum prices are passed on to the people.
Governor Tesori's proposal for an even more substantial price cut of 140 rupees reflects the urgency of addressing economic challenges and alleviating inflation concerns.
