The national apex committee on security has decided to continue operations against the enemies of peace.
Sources said the meeting on the law and order situation, chaired by caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar, expressed satisfaction over the actions taken against the ongoing smuggling and hoarding across the country. It also expressed concern over the involvement of government personnel in smuggling.
The meeting was also attended by civil and military officials, as well as leaders of sensitive institutions. The inspectors general of police and chief secretaries of all four provinces also attended the meeting.
The sources further said that it was agreed to tighten the noose around political and government officials involved in smuggling. The committee also vowed not to favour any influential person during the investigation.
The meeting reviewed the overall national law and order situation.

The committee also decided to fully monitor Afghan transit trade to prevent smuggling. It expressed satisfaction over the government's measures to bring down the value of the dollar, and agreed to continue measures against elements involved in hawala/hundi.
Moreover, the committee strongly condemned the recent acts of terrorism, as per the sources. It prayed for the civilians and security personnel martyred in the attacks.
The forum maintained that there was no place for terrorists and their facilitators in Pakistan. It reiterated the resolve to use all the strength and resources to defeat terrorist elements.
The Interior Ministry and intelligence agencies briefed the meeting on the investigation into terrorist attacks, the sources said.
The meeting also took some important decisions regarding actions against illegal residents. The implementation of the National Action Plan was also reviewed during the meeting.
After the meeting, according to sources, army chief Gen Syed Asim Munir addressed the committee. He said the life and property of a Pakistani citizen came before any worldly interest.
The sources quoted the army chief as saying during the meeting that the welfare of Pakistanis is more important than any worldly interest.
Before the apex committee meeting, the caretaker prime minister and Chief of Army Staff Gen Asim Munir held a separate meeting at the PM House.
The two held detailed discussions on issues of national security.
