In some welcome news for those struggling with the severe heat wave, the Met Department has announced rains that will bring relief to the region.
The current temperature in Lahore stands at a scorching 40 degrees Celsius, but, the department says, the temperature will decrease in the next few days.
Chief Meteorologist Shahid Abbas said that westerly winds have entered the upper parts of the country, which will help in reducing the oppressive heat. The wind is expected to lower the temperature from today, providing immediate respite from the heat.

Intermittent rains are anticipated across various areas of Punjab within the next couple of days. This weather change is expected to significantly decrease the current high temperatures, offering much-needed relief to the residents.
On Friday, the Met Department issued a weather forecast indicating that extreme heat will persist in the southern districts of the country, while certain areas in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Potohar, and northeast Punjab can expect rainfall.

According to the department, the southern districts of Punjab, along with most areas in Balochistan and Sindh, will remain under the grip of a severe heatwave. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses and to stay hydrated.
Sardar Sarfraz, a meteorologist, warned that the heat wave is likely to persist in Karachi tomorrow. However, he offered a glimmer of hope by predicting a decrease in the intensity of the heat wave starting from June 2. Sarfraz stated that the city is expected to remain partially cloudy since then, with temperatures ranging between 34 and 36 degrees Celsius.
