Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Speaker Babar Saleem Swati has emphasized the importance of all institutions adhering to their prescribed boundaries.
In a candid discussion with journalists at the assembly in Peshawar, he said the day the House session would be held, he would administer the oath to the members elected on reserved seats.
Reflecting on the country's legal framework, he said the country inherited the British laws to run the country that they formulated for slaves. He remarked that the system had been further worsened.
Swati also expressed concern regarding the role of the establishment, saying that even today, a monopoly is still going on through the establishment, and stressed the significance of upholding the sanctity of the House.
"Al institutions need to operate within their designated parameters," he stressed, adding that everybody knew what the stature was of those who were called elected in the country.
Addressing the power dynamics, Swati clarified that the speaker did not possess the authority to convene assembly sessions. Instead, such sessions can be requisitioned by either the opposition or the government, he said, adding that the opposition lacked the requisite numbers to requisition a session, while the government has yet to initiate one.
"The day the session is held, I will administer the oath to newly elected members on reserved seats," he stressed.
