The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has formally approved tax exemptions for the merged tribal districts and Malakand Division.
KP Information Minister Shafiullah Jan said service providers in former FATA, PATA and Malakand Division would be exempt from sales tax on services, while industries established there would be exempt from withholding sales tax.
The provincial cabinet has also increased the size of the Ehsaas Naujawan Programme from Rs3 billion to Rs5 billion. It has approved the official observance of Ashra Rahmat-ul-lil-Alameen across the province from 1 Rabi-ul-Awwal, along with the schedule of its programmes.
The cabinet has also approved funds for schools and colleges in various districts and a semester-based system of jacketed textbooks up to Class-V. Jan said the cabinet had approved 100 per cent free textbooks for students from Class Nine to Class 12.
The cabinet has also approved the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Public Private Partnership Authority Bill 2026 for legislation.
