Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said the Makkah Defence Pact between Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan was important for regional security and stability.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met the Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas in Ankara, where they discussed the Makkah defence pact.
Erdogan pledges to defend Palestinian rights
Abbas thanked Türkiye for its support for Palestine and for providing humanitarian and medical aid to Gaza. He said the Makkah defence pact between Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan was important for regional security and stability.
He said Israeli settlement activity in occupied East Jerusalem and the West Bank was a matter of concern. Gaza was an integral part of the Palestinian state and no Palestinian state could exist without Gaza.
Erdogan said Türkiye would defend the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people at every international forum. He said conditions must first be created for the immediate start of Gaza's reconstruction.
