US President Donald Trump has said the strategy to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons has been effective, adding that the situation is progressing well.
In a statement on Truth Social, President Trump said Iran had suffered severe damage during military operations and that the country had been 'weakened' to prevent it from ever obtaining a nuclear weapon.
He rejected reports by The Washington Post regarding Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth, calling the reports misleading and based on false claims.
Trump says Hegseth’s performance 'satisfactory'
Trump said he was satisfied with Hegseth’s performance, praising his work within the military and referring to improvements in recruitment and other areas.
The US president also criticised the media outlet behind the report, saying the claims about Hegseth were 'completely untrue'.
