Sindh Drug Testing Laboratory has declared IV infusion sets of five different companies as sub-standard, raising concerns over infection prevention measures amid the HIV spread issue in the province.
Sindh Drug Testing Laboratory Director Adnan Rizvi said the samples of infusion sets failed to meet the required quality standards during testing. He said the tube length of five IV drip sets was not according to the required standard, while the material used in their production was also found to be sub-standard.
Samples of drip sets collected from Naushero Feroze and Karachi Malir were declared sub-standard. Dr Adnan said all five products were declared below standard under the Medical Device Rules 2017.
The Sindh Drug Testing Laboratory has sent the report to the concerned Drug Inspectors. Test reports have also been forwarded to the Sindh Secretary Quality Control Board.
