Veteran Pakistani actor Firdous Jamal has reignited controversy after describing Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan as "a greater star than actor," prompting mixed reactions from fans on social media.
Speaking during a recent media appearance, Firdous Jamal praised Shah Rukh Khan's global popularity but questioned his acting ability.
"Shah Rukh Khan had many flaws. His speech was faulty, and his physique wasn't quite like that. I say that he is not as great an actor as he is a star," Jamal said.
Mixed reaction online
The comments quickly sparked debate on social media, with users expressing differing views.
Some criticised Jamal's remarks, with one user writing, "The most negative actor in our industry. So just shut up."
Another defended the Bollywood star, saying Shah Rukh had no speech or appearance issues and was a far better actor than Jamal suggested.
Others, however, agreed with the veteran actor's assessment.
One user commented, "He has given many great performances in his career, which shows he is a very good actor. He is a living legend—no one can match his level of stardom."
Another simply wrote, "Damn, agree."
No stranger to controversy
Firdous Jamal has frequently made headlines for his outspoken views on the entertainment industry and fellow actors.
In recent years, he has criticised several leading Pakistani stars, including Mahira Khan and Humayun Saeed, and questioned the casting of older actors in romantic lead roles. He has also expressed conservative views about women from his own family pursuing careers in showbiz.
Veteran career
Widely regarded as one of Pakistan's most accomplished performers, Firdous Jamal has built a career spanning decades, appearing in more than 300 television dramas, 150 stage productions, 200 radio plays and around 50 films across multiple regional languages.
