Iranian officials said on Thursday that the Bushehr nuclear power plant suffered no damage following overnight US strikes, despite reports of explosions near the facility and missile shrapnel falling in the area.
Explosions were reported near the southern city of Bushehr, with Iran's Mehr News Agency saying blasts were heard in the vicinity of the nuclear power plant.
Initial reports suggested missile shrapnel may have fallen near the facility, but Iranian authorities later denied that the plant had sustained any damage.
Officials said the Bushehr nuclear power station remains fully intact.
Strategic nuclear site
The Bushehr nuclear power plant was built with Russian assistance and has been operational for about two decades.
Unlike Iran's nuclear facilities at Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan, which were targeted by US B-2 bombers during the recent US-Israel military campaign, Bushehr had not previously been attacked.
Russian personnel
During the conflict, Russian technical personnel remained stationed at the Bushehr facility.
Iranian authorities reiterated that the latest US strikes did not damage the power plant despite explosions reported nearby.
