Bonnie Tyler, the Welsh singer behind timeless hits including Total Eclipse of the Heart, Holding Out for a Hero and It's a Heartache, has died at the age of 75, her family confirmed on Thursday.
In a statement published on the singer's official website, Tyler's family and management announced that she died in a hospital in Portugal on Wednesday night.
"Bonnie's family and team are heartbroken to announce that Bonnie unexpectedly passed away last night in hospital in Portugal as a result of the illness that she was being treated for," the statement said.
The family requested privacy as they grieve the loss and said a further statement would be issued later.
Legendary music career
Bonnie Tyler rose to international fame with a string of chart-topping hits, including:

- Holding Out for a Hero
- It's a Heartache
Known for her distinctive raspy voice, Tyler became one of the most recognisable singers of the late 1970s and 1980s, selling millions of records worldwide and earning multiple award nominations throughout her career.
