Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has shared his reaction to Diljit Dosanjh's recently released film Satluj, saying the controversy surrounding the project has made him even more eager to watch it.
Taking to his Instagram Stories, the Gangs of Wasseypur director argued that banning films often has the opposite effect, making audiences more curious rather than discouraging them.
"The thing about banning something is that the more you ban something, the more people want to watch it. I was not even planning to watch this film but now I will have to watch to understand why it got banned," Kashyap wrote.
His comments came shortly after Satluj premiered on ZEE5, nearly three years after its original release plans were delayed due to issues with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
Ram Gopal Varma also praises 'Satluj'
Veteran filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma also shared his thoughts after watching the film, calling it an emotionally powerful portrayal of a painful chapter in history.
In a post on X, Varma described Satluj as "not a film, but a deep wound that will never heal," praising Diljit Dosanjh's restrained performance and Arjun Rampal's portrayal of institutional complicity.
He said the film confronts one of history's darkest chapters without relying on conventional heroism, highlighting Dosanjh's performance as driven by "a ledger and a conscience."
