Iran has warned that any US base used to carry out attacks against the country will be targeted by its military, as tensions continue to rise after fresh US strikes.
In a statement, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said Washington’s actions violated the first article of the Memorandum of Understanding and had made key parts of the agreement meaningless.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry said the US base from which any attack is launched against Iran will be targeted by the Iranian armed forces.
Tehran said its response came after what it described as illegal US attacks.
The ministry said Washington would bear full responsibility for the serious consequences of the current escalation.
Tehran says US violated memorandum
According to the Iranian Foreign Ministry, the latest US attacks are a violation of the first article of the Memorandum of Understanding.

The ministry said the illegal US strikes had rendered important provisions of the memorandum meaningless.
It added that Washington’s actions were damaging the framework that had been agreed to reduce tensions.
Strait of Hormuz and Lebanon attacks cited
Iran also said illegal actions in the Strait of Hormuz were making the Memorandum of Understanding ineffective.
The Foreign Ministry further cited attacks on Lebanon as another factor undermining the agreement.

Tehran said these developments had weakened the understanding and increased the risk of further instability in the region.
US held responsible for consequences
The Iranian Foreign Ministry said the United States would be responsible for the serious consequences of the current tensions.
It maintained that Iran’s military would respond to any attack launched from a US base.
The warning comes as the region faces renewed uncertainty over the future of the memorandum and the wider security situation around the Strait of Hormuz.
