Babar Azam is set to return as Pakistan's Test captain for the upcoming series against the West Indies and England, according to sources.
The reported decision comes after Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi approved the change in leadership following Shan Masood's tenure.
Sources said PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has approved Babar Azam's appointment as Pakistan's Test captain.
If confirmed officially, Babar will lead the national side in the upcoming Test series against the West Indies and England.
The move would mark Babar's return to Test captaincy after previously leading Pakistan across formats.
Shan Masood's tenure comes to an end
According to sources, the PCB decided to end Shan Masood's tenure as Test captain following a disappointing run under his leadership.
The decision was reportedly taken after reviewing Pakistan's recent performances in the longest format.
Sources further claimed that Chairman Mohsin Naqvi was presented with several names before making the final decision.
After consultations, Babar Azam was reportedly chosen to lead the Test side once again.
The Pakistan Cricket Board has yet to issue an official announcement regarding the reported captaincy change.
If confirmed, Babar Azam will take charge of Pakistan for the upcoming Test assignments against the West Indies and England.
