Maximiliano Araujo has drawn attention from football supporters after a video circulated showing him leaving Carrasco Airport in a small transport truck, rather than a luxury car, following his return from the World Cup.
The footage, which spread widely on Thursday, showed the Maximiliano Araujo arriving back on Wednesday morning and placing his luggage into the rear of the vehicle before departing with members of his family.
The 26-year-old winger, who plays for Sporting CP, contributed to all three goals scored by his national side during the tournament.
The clip was shared by a social media user and was taken by many viewers as a sign of his modest conduct after returning from international duty.
Interest has also been reported from Manchester United and Chelsea, who are understood to be monitoring the player ahead of the new season.
Players of Uruguay are due to remain on break until the conclusion of the World Cup, staged in Canada, Mexico and the United States, with the final scheduled for 19 July.
