Meta’s Threads has introduced new features to its Live Chats function, alongside wider access for users, the company said on Tuesday.
According to TechCrunch, the update includes translation support, additional tools for chat hosts, and further improvements to engagement features.
With the new translation function, conversations in Live Chats are made more accessible to users across different regions. Access to start Live Chats has also been extended to all “Community Champions”, termed as users with strong followings, regular activity, and consistent community engagement.
Chat hosts may now invite up to three co-hosts to assist in managing discussions. The platform has also enabled hosts to delete messages for all participants and is testing visual enhancements to highlight host messages within chats.
Threads said Live Chats allow users to send messages, photographs, videos, links, and emoji reactions, with up to 150 active participants permitted to post. Additional users may join in spectator mode, where they can view content, react, and take part in polls.
The company also said desktop support is planned for future release, alongside pinned message functionality. Threads recently reported reaching 500 million monthly active users.
