A magnitude 5.1 earthquake struck Balochistan, leaving more than six people injured in Musa Khel and damaging over 35 houses.
Women, children among injured
Walls collapsed in several areas, causing injuries to women and children, according to the Deputy Commissioner Musa Khel. The injured were shifted to hospital, while relief teams, led by the Assistant Commissioner, were dispatched to the affected areas.
Tremors were also felt in Zhob, Barkhan, Rakhni, Kohlu and surrounding regions. The Seismological Centre confirmed the earthquake measured 5.1 in magnitude, with a depth of 17 kilometres.
Fear as tremors north-east of Kohlu, epicentre around 60 km away
The Seismological Centre stated that the epicentre was located around 60 kilometres north-east of Kohlu. Following the tremors, residents came out of their homes in fear and recited prayers.
It is pertinent to note that earlier in the same day, tremors were also felt in Kohlu and nearby areas, recorded at a magnitude of 5.0. In Sibi and adjoining regions, a separate earthquake of 4.2 magnitude was felt in the morning. Authorities reported no confirmed loss of life or property at that stage, while relevant departments continued monitoring the situation.
Separately, strong earthquake tremors were reported across different parts of Balochistan, causing concern among residents. The Seismological Centre confirmed repeated seismic activity in the region, with movement felt across multiple districts. Residents briefly vacated buildings as a precaution.
