Islamabad witnessed another step forward in Pakistan-Iran relations as Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met his Iranian counterpart Eskandar Momeni to discuss bilateral ties and the regional situation following the recent peace agreement.
The two leaders expressed satisfaction over the reduction in regional tensions and reaffirmed their commitment to promoting peace, stability and cooperation between the neighboring countries.
During the meeting in Islamabad, both interior ministers held detailed discussions on Pakistan-Iran relations and the evolving regional landscape after the peace agreement.
The two sides welcomed the easing of tensions in the region and emphasized the importance of continued diplomatic engagement to maintain stability and prevent future conflicts.
Naqvi reiterates Pakistan’s commitment to peace
Speaking during the meeting, Mohsin Naqvi said Pakistan has always sought peace and stability not only in the region but around the world.
He stressed that Pakistan would continue its efforts to support lasting peace in the Middle East and expressed hope that the recent peace agreement would produce positive outcomes for the entire region.

Naqvi also congratulated Eskandar Momeni on the joint declaration reached in Switzerland and acknowledged Iran’s role in advancing the agreement.
Addressing the Iranian minister, Naqvi said the agreement was signed by Iran and added that it would not have been possible without the sincere efforts made by the Iranian leadership and delegation.
Iranian minister appreciates Pakistan’s role
Momeni thanked Pakistan for its support and appreciated the country's sincere role in efforts aimed at reducing tensions and promoting peace. He also praised the cooperation and goodwill shown by the people of Pakistan throughout the process.
Momeni expressed gratitude for the warm welcome extended to him and the Iranian delegation during their visit to Islamabad.
Agreement reached on cooperation in key sectors
The meeting also resulted in an understanding to enhance cooperation in several important areas. Both countries agreed to strengthen collaboration in security cooperation, cyber security and immigration-related matters as part of broader efforts to deepen bilateral ties.
The discussions reflected a shared commitment to addressing common challenges and improving coordination between the two neighboring states.
During the talks, Momeni said he would soon undertake a detailed visit to Pakistan with the objective of further advancing cooperation between the two countries.
The proposed visit is expected to build on the momentum created by the latest discussions and help translate commitments into practical initiatives.
Senior officials attend high-level meeting
A number of senior Pakistani officials were also present during the meeting.
Those in attendance included Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, the interior secretary, additional interior secretary, FIA director general, commandant of the National Police Academy and director general of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).
The meeting underscored the growing importance of Pakistan-Iran cooperation at a time when both countries are seeking to promote regional peace, strengthen security coordination and expand collaboration in key areas of mutual interest.
