Security sources have said that Pakistan has consistently prioritised dialogue, public welfare, and development in Azad Kashmir, while alleging that external elements are attempting to destabilise the region.
Comparing the situation in Azad Kashmir with occupied Kashmir, the sources said that the latter remains heavily militarised, while claiming that Pakistan’s approach in Azad Kashmir has focused on governance and public services without heavy coercive measures.
They further alleged that certain actors are attempting to create unrest in Azad Kashmir after failing to influence public sentiment in the region, adding that such individuals and groups would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
Claims on militancy and regional security
Security sources also reiterated allegations regarding foreign involvement in regional militancy, stating that the banned group Balochistan Liberation Army has external backing.
They said Pakistan’s security forces have conducted thousands of intelligence-based operations, claiming that hundreds of militants have been neutralised during ongoing counter-terrorism actions this year.
The sources added that multiple militant networks are believed to be operating across the border in Afghanistan, and alleged that discussions with Afghan authorities have not yielded sufficient action against such groups.
Counter-terror operations highlighted
According to the statement, Pakistan has carried out extensive counter-terror operations nationwide as part of ongoing efforts to eliminate militancy and maintain internal security.
Officials said that security forces remain committed to neutralising threats and preventing any group from forming armed networks outside state control.
Security sources also commented on regional diplomacy, stating that Pakistan’s involvement in recent international engagements, including US-Iran-related diplomatic efforts, was aimed at promoting regional peace and reducing tensions among countries.
They further reiterated that the Indus Waters Treaty cannot be suspended unilaterally, warning that any threat to Pakistan’s water resources would be taken seriously.
