Rawalpindi Police have put in place strict security arrangements ahead of a possible gathering of Pakistan Tehreeek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers expected to visit Adiala Jail for a meeting with PTI founder Imran Khan, officials said.
According to the security plan, more than 1,350 police personnel have been deployed across key routes leading to the jail, with authorities setting up 12 checkpoints in and around the area to regulate movement and maintain law and order.
Security plan, checkpoints
Police have established checkpoints at major entry and transit points, including Gorakhpur, Chakri Interchange, Garden Villas Diversion, Bahria Phase-I, Thalian Interchange, Khawaja Corporation, Gulshan Abad, and near Capital Smart City.
Officials said that all routes leading toward Adiala Jail will be strictly monitored, and only authorized movement will be allowed.
No unrelated individuals or convoys will be permitted to approach the jail premises under the security protocol.
Heavy deployment
In addition to regular police units, elite forces, riot management teams, and specialized units equipped with water cannons, tear gas, and rubber bullets have been deployed as part of precautionary measures.
Authorities said these arrangements are aimed at preventing any potential disturbance or law and order situation during the expected gathering.
Police sources added that additional checkpoints have also been established at various points across Rawalpindi city to manage traffic and crowd movement.
Officials said the enhanced security deployment is intended to ensure peace, prevent unauthorized gatherings, and maintain smooth functioning around sensitive locations.
They emphasized that all necessary steps are being taken to handle any unforeseen situation effectively.
