The founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, was shifted from Adiala Jail to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Hospital for a follow-up examination of his affected eye, where doctors administered a fifth intravitreal injection before transferring him back to jail.
According to hospital officials, Imran Khan remained medically stable throughout the treatment, while diagnostic tests showed improvement in his eye condition.
Sources said the PTI founder was brought from Adiala Jail to PIMS Hospital late at night for a scheduled follow-up examination of his affected eye.
A complete medical assessment was conducted before treatment, and specialists reviewed his condition as part of the ongoing eye care plan. Following the examination, he was shifted back to Adiala Jail after the medical procedure was completed.
Fifth intravitreal injection
According to the PIMS administration, Imran Khan received the fifth dose of an intravitreal injection as part of his treatment. The hospital spokesperson said ophthalmologists carried out a detailed examination before administering the injection.
Expert surgeons performed the procedure in the operation theatre using microscopy-guided techniques to ensure precision and safety.
Doctors report improvement
The PIMS spokesperson said Imran Khan remained completely stable throughout the treatment process. Doctors described the procedure as a day-care surgery and confirmed there were no complications during treatment.
The spokesperson added that Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) test results showed improvement in the condition of the affected eye.
After the treatment was completed, the PTI founder was discharged with necessary medical instructions and a follow-up plan for future evaluations.
Barrister Gohar confirms hospital visit
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan also confirmed that the PTI founder had been taken to PIMS Hospital.
In a post on X, Barrister Gohar said he received information late at night regarding the transfer to the hospital. He stated that after the injection was administered, the PTI founder was shifted back to Adiala Jail.
Gohar reiterated the PTI’s demand that the party founder be formally transferred to a regular hospital for treatment. He also called for the PTI founder’s family to be allowed an immediate meeting with him.
The PTI chairman maintained that continued medical treatment and family access should be facilitated without delay.
Medical team issues follow-up plan
According to PIMS officials, the treatment process concluded successfully and the patient remained stable throughout the procedure.
Doctors issued the necessary post-treatment instructions and scheduled a follow-up plan to monitor further recovery and progress in the eye condition.
