Iran’s Supreme National Security Council has announced that the text of a memorandum of understanding with the United States has been finalized, paving the way for what it described as “war-ending negotiations” between Tehran and Washington.
According to the council, all military operations and hostilities on every front, including Lebanon, will cease immediately and permanently from Sunday night.
The Supreme National Security Council said the memorandum provides for the immediate and permanent suspension of war and military operations across all fronts.
“Based on the agreements reached, the war and military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon, will end immediately and permanently as of tonight,” the council’s secretariat said in a statement.

The announcement comes after months of intensive negotiations between Iran and the United States under the framework of the Islamabad Talks.
US naval blockade to be lifted
The council said the naval blockade imposed on Iranian ports would also be lifted immediately and completely under the proposed agreement.
According to the statement, the maritime blockade against Iran will end in full as part of the memorandum of understanding.
The development marks a major step in the reported peace process between Tehran and Washington.
Final agreement depends on compliance
Iranian officials said negotiations on a final agreement will begin only after the other side fulfils its obligations under the memorandum.
The Supreme National Security Council stressed that the other party must meet its responsibilities before final talks can move forward.

According to the statement, final negotiations will take place only if the commitments under the memorandum are fully implemented.
Agreement under Supreme Leader’s framework
The council said the agreement was reached under the framework and direction of Iran’s Supreme Leader.
It added that the negotiation process enjoyed the full support of the Iranian people and was backed by the efforts of Iranian military forces.
The statement said the Islamic Republic of Iran, “under the guidance of its martyred leader,” had consolidated its superiority over its “American-Zionist enemy.”
Iranian military says US had no choice
Iran’s high military command said the Iranian people had shown the United States that it had “no choice but to give up.”
The statement described the memorandum as the outcome of Iran’s military strength, public support and months of difficult negotiations.
It said Iran concluded the text of the memorandum on the evening of June 14 following several months of intensive talks.

According to the Supreme National Security Council, the agreement was finalized as part of the process known as the Islamabad Talks. The talks were conducted between Iran and the United States under a resolution approved by the council.
The memorandum of understanding is scheduled to be formally signed on June 19.
Pakistan, Qatar thanked for mediation
In its concluding remarks, Iran’s Supreme National Security Council expressed appreciation to Pakistan and Qatar for their mediation efforts.
The council said both countries played an important role in facilitating the negotiation process between Tehran and Washington.
The statement added that the memorandum would formally mark the next stage of efforts to end the conflict and move toward a final agreement.
