The exact timing of the signing of the Islamabad memorandum will not be on Sunday, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei said, according to state media on Saturday.
Baqaei said the possibility of signing the Islamabad memorandum in the coming days could not be ruled out, but added that caution was needed regarding any comment on the signing date due to the hesitation of the other side.
It is pertinent to note that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that a historic peace agreement is now closer than ever, expressing hope that the deal will be finalized within the next 24 hours.
In a statement shared on social media, the prime minister said Pakistan was preparing for the electronic signing of the agreement and would move toward the next phase of negotiations once the deal is finalized.
Shehbaz said the peace agreement had reached its most advanced stage so far.
