The federal budget has proposed an allocation of more than Rs7.44 billion for the Supreme Court, with the largest share set aside for salaries, allowances and administrative expenditure.
According to federal budget documents, the allocation is intended for judicial functions, administrative requirements and other operational expenses.
The documents state that the Supreme Court's total expenditure in the previous financial year stood at Rs6.484 billion, while an increase has been proposed for the new financial year.
A sum of Rs4.438 billion has been allocated for the salaries and allowances of Supreme Court officers and employees, representing the largest component of the court's budget.
The budget proposes Rs1.384 billion for the court's routine administrative and operating expenses, while Rs260 million has been earmarked for retirement benefits.
According to the budget documents, Rs27 million has been allocated for grants and subsidies, while Rs720 million has been set aside for the acquisition and development of assets.
Similarly, Rs230 million has been proposed for civil works, while Rs365.9 million has been allocated for the repair and maintenance of buildings.
