Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said the federal budget 2026-27 is a relief-oriented and public welfare budget aimed at reducing pressure on citizens, supporting the salaried class and accelerating economic growth.
In his statement on the federal budget, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan had achieved economic stability with the prayers of the nation.
“I am immensely grateful to Allah Almighty,” the prime minister said, adding that every citizen showed patience during difficult circumstances and contributed greatly to the country’s economic stability.
He said he had promised the people that once economic stability was achieved, its benefits would be passed on to the common man.
‘Time for prosperity has begun’
Prime Minister Sharif said the government had now provided relief to the people through the budget. “Alhamdulillah, the time for prosperity has now begun,” he said.
He described the budget as a budget of relief and public welfare, saying it had been designed to reduce the burden on the salaried class.
Focus on exports, industry, agriculture
The prime minister said Budget 2026-27 would help increase exports, promote industries and support agricultural development. He added that the budget was also aimed at encouraging investment and strengthening overall economic development.
According to Shehbaz Sharif, the main objective of the budget is to ensure that the benefits of economic strength reach the people.
The PM said his government had taken concrete and effective steps to provide people with the facility of their own roof through the Apna Ghar programme.

He also referred to tax relief, employment opportunities for youth, measures to reduce the burden on the middle class and initiatives to promote business activity.
Shehbaz Sharif said these steps were part of the government’s broader agenda to improve public welfare and support economic recovery.
PM thanks key institutions and provinces
The prime minister thanked Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and the finance minister for their role in the budget and economic efforts.
He also thanked the economic team and the chief ministers of all four provinces for their cooperation.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the journey of development would continue with full momentum. “Insha Allah, we will take all possible steps for the welfare of the people,” he said.
