The Commander of the Turkish Land Forces, General Metin Tokel, visited Pakistan and held a series of high-level defence meetings with the country's military leadership, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Upon his arrival at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, the distinguished guest was presented with a guard of honour by a smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Army.
General Metin Tokel met Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and discussed matters of mutual professional interest, regional security and ways to further strengthen bilateral defence cooperation, the ISPR said.
Field Marshal Asim Munir noted the deep historical, cultural and strategic ties between Pakistan and Türkiye and praised the strong defence partnership between the armed forces of the two countries.
During his visit, the Turkish Land Forces commander also called at Naval Headquarters, where he met Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf. The two sides exchanged views on the regional maritime security situation and other matters of mutual interest.
General Tokel later visited Air Headquarters in Islamabad and met Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu. Discussions focused on bilateral military cooperation and professional matters of mutual interest.
The visiting commander praised the professionalism of Pakistan's armed forces and acknowledged their contribution towards regional peace and stability.
Both sides reaffirmed their resolve to further enhance defence cooperation and institutional links between the armed forces of Pakistan and Türkiye.
