Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a telephone conversation with Field Marshal Asim Munir, during which the latest regional security situation and matters of mutual interest were discussed.
Araghchi also spoke by phone with his Turkish counterpart to discuss ongoing developments in the region. According to sources, the Iranian foreign minister additionally contacted the foreign ministers of Britain, France, and Qatar, briefing them on the current situation.
The Iranian foreign minister also held separate telephone conversations with the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia and Qatar, focusing on the regional security situation, de-escalation efforts, and ongoing diplomatic initiatives.
Regional tensions have escalated sharply as Iran and Israel exchanged attacks.
According to Iranian sources, explosions were heard in several cities, including Tehran, Tabriz, Karaj, and Isfahan. Iranian officials described the Israeli strikes as a response to recent Iranian attacks.
Meanwhile, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed carrying out missile attacks on Israel, stating that Zionist military targets were struck with ballistic missiles. The attacks reportedly caused fires in several areas and resulted in damage.
Tehran said the operation was carried out in response to the attack on Beirut. Iranian officials maintained that Iran had supported a ceasefire and de-escalation on all fronts, but argued that Israeli actions in Lebanon had undermined the negotiation process.
Separately, a missile was launched at Israel from Yemen, while air raid sirens sounded in Tel Aviv following the attack.
