Security forces killed four khawarij during two separate operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said two khawarij terrorists were killed during an intense exchange of fire in an operation in Dera Ismail Khan. In a separate intelligence-based operation in Mohmand district, security forces killed two more khawarij. Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the slain terrorists.
The ISPR said the killed khawarij had been involved in several terrorist activities. A clearance operation in the area remains under way, adding that the counter-terrorism campaign under Operation Azm-e-Istehkam continues with full force. Operations against foreign-backed terrorists will continue until their complete elimination.
President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi paid tribute to the security forces for the successful operations.
In separate statements, they said the nation values the sacrifices rendered by the armed forces and security institutions. They said there is no place in Pakistan for terrorist elements and their facilitators.
The leaders said the entire nation stands shoulder to shoulder with the security forces in the fight against terrorism.
President Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also reaffirmed the national resolve to eradicate terrorism from the country.
