Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong and conveyed his good wishes to the Chinese leadership, including the Chinese president and prime minister.
The prime minister recalled his recent visit to China and referred to the useful, purposeful and productive meetings held during the trip.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening its strategic partnership with China and directed the immediate implementation of decisions reached during his visit.
The prime minister also stressed the need to expand cooperation under the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
He said greater collaboration could be pursued in agriculture, information technology, special economic zones and the minerals sector.
Shehbaz Sharif directed the relevant authorities to ensure implementation of the memorandums of understanding signed during the Hangzhou Investment Conference.
The prime minister commended the Chinese ambassador for his role in making the visit to China successful.
The meeting also included discussions on accelerating progress on the Karakoram Highway realignment project.
Both sides exchanged views on enhancing cooperation in security, counter-terrorism and defence, and discussed the evolving regional situation as well as significant international developments.
