The 'Don 3' controversy deepened this week after actor Ranveer Singh moved court against the non-cooperation directive issued by the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE).
The development came more than a week after the film body announced a directive that many viewed as a ban on the actor amid its dispute with Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani's Excel Entertainment over the film.
According to reports, FWICE chief adviser Ashoke Pandit has confirmed that the federation had received a legal notice from Ranveer. Following the notice, FWICE decided to convene another press conference, scheduled to take place later on Tuesday in Mumbai.
The contents of the notice have not been disclosed. However, the film body is expected to address the escalating dispute involving Ranveer Singh and Excel Entertainment during the media briefing.
Earlier reports stated that while Ranveer Singh had not personally commented on the controversy, his spokesperson issued a carefully worded statement after FWICE released the directive.
The statement said the actor believes professional matters should be handled with “dignity, maturity and mutual respect”. It added that Singh holds the “highest regard” for the film fraternity and everyone associated with the Don franchise.
According to the statement, Ranveer Singh consciously chose not to respond publicly despite growing speculation surrounding the matter.
“While several narratives and speculations have surfaced over time, Ranveer has never considered it necessary to respond publicly or contribute to conjecture,” the statement said.
It added that the actor remains focused on his work and future commitments.
