Dutch authorities say there are no legal grounds to block rapper Kanye West from entering the country, paving the way for his upcoming shows.
Kanye West is set to continue his European tour after authorities in the Netherlands confirmed that there is no legal basis to prevent him from performing in the country.
The decision comes after several of the rapper’s planned concerts across Europe were previously cancelled amid controversy linked to his past antisemitic remarks.
Dutch Deputy Prime Minister Bart van den Brink stated that officials had carefully reviewed the situation before reaching a decision.
He said that “solid grounds are needed to bar people from entering,” adding that government analysis did not find sufficient justification to deny West entry into the Netherlands.
The ruling effectively clears the way for the rapper’s scheduled performances next month.
Europe tour faced multiple setbacks
West’s touring plans have faced repeated disruptions in recent months. Several shows in countries including the United Kingdom, France, Switzerland and Poland were either cancelled or blocked following public criticism over his past statements.
Despite the setbacks, the rapper recently completed a performance in Istanbul, where reports said he drew a large crowd at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium.
The concert was described as a rare positive moment in an otherwise turbulent European tour rollout.
Limited legal grounds for restrictions
According to Dutch officials, West’s previous public remarks alone were not considered sufficient legal grounds to bar him from entering the country.
Authorities emphasized that entry restrictions require strong legal justification, which they said was not present in this case.
