Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar said on Friday that his meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio was held in a cordial atmosphere.
Addressing a press conference, Dar said Pakistan secured a major victory in 'Marka-e-Haq'. He said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held meetings with investors during his visit to China, where memorandums of understanding worth $20 million were signed for investment in Pakistan.
He said historic business-to-business agreements were reached during the prime minister’s visit to China. Dar added that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif remained committed to attracting foreign investment and providing a favourable environment for overseas investors.
The deputy prime minister said Pakistan’s position on the Palestine issue remained clear, adding that the people of Kashmir should receive the right to self-determination in accordance with United Nations resolutions. He said Pakistan stood as a builder of peace and noted that Pakistan’s ambassador and Foreign Office officials were present during the meeting with Marco Rubio.
Dar said the leadership of the prime minister and the field marshal had given Pakistan a new identity. He added that the first ceasefire between the United States and Iran became possible through Pakistan’s efforts, and said recent diplomatic contacts also helped improve the situation.
He further said the government remained concerned about the burden on the public caused by rising oil prices, and that the prime minister continued efforts to minimise the impact on citizens.
