Iran has said its current talks with the United States are focused only on ending the war and do not include the nuclear issue, as Tehran cautioned that no one can say an agreement will be reached soon.
Speaking at a news conference, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baqaei said only the initial framework has been agreed with the United States.
He said conclusions have been reached on many topics discussed in a possible memorandum of understanding, but that does not mean Tehran is close to signing an agreement.
Possible MoU focused on ending war
Baqaei said the main objective of the possible 14-point MoU is to end the war.
He added that ending the conflict on all fronts, including Lebanon, should be part of any possible agreement, and a clause preventing aggression against Lebanon should also be included.

The Iranian spokesperson made clear that Tehran is not currently discussing nuclear issues with Washington.
“Only talks are being held with the US on ending the war,” Baqaei said, adding that no one can claim an agreement between Iran and the US will be reached soon.
Strait of Hormuz details not included
Baqaei said the possible MoU does not include specific details on the management of the Strait of Hormuz. He said management of the Strait of Hormuz is the right of coastal countries, adding that Iran will not impose any toll on the waterway.

The spokesperson said Iran will provide complete protection to those passing through the Strait of Hormuz. He added that the strait had been open before Israeli and American aggression, and that Iran remains in contact with cooperating countries on the issue.
Pakistan’s mediation role
Baqaei said Pakistan is the sole mediator in the negotiations between the United States and Iran.
He added that there is currently no intention to send an Iranian delegation to Islamabad, while progress made in recent days has been due to the mediation of Pakistan and other countries.
Iran warns against aggression
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson said every aggressive move by the enemy will be answered. He said threats, pressure and propaganda are part of politics, adding that Tehran looks at ground realities and does not consider opposing narratives important.
Baqaei also said changes in the positions of US officials create problems for any agreement and urged the European Union to abide by international law.
Iran will not bow to pressure
Separately, Ebrahim Rezaei, spokesperson for the Iranian Parliamentary National Security Commission, said on social media that Iran’s strategy during the war was “an eye for an eye.”
He said Iran’s formula in the diplomatic war is “action for action.”

Rezaei urged the American people not to believe what he called the tricks of a “failed president,” saying time is running against Washington. He said if the US wants an agreement, it should talk, but if it wants expensive gasoline, it should remain stubborn.
Rezaei added that the whole world knows Iran has never bowed its head to force, threats or intimidation.
