Pakistan national team batter Babar Azam has admitted that Pakistan have failed to build partnerships on the second day of the Sylhet Test against Bangladesh on Sunday.
Addressing a press conference following the match, he said the side was unable to construct meaningful partnerships throughout the innings. Babar Azam stated that most of the batters were dismissed to straightforward deliveries.
Babar has added that he tried to deliver his best performance in the match. He said the dismissals of himself and Salman Agha proved to be the turning point of the game. The former Pakistan captain has said that the batting unit must take responsibility for the shortcomings, adding that in Test cricket, two to three solid partnerships are required to post a competitive total.
Babar has said that the main issue was the collapse of wickets in quick succession once a dismissal occurred, adding that the team management was working to address this concern.
He added that sometimes plans are made but not executed on the field, saying that the team does not approach matches with a negative mindset.
Babar has maintained that Pakistan had not met the expectations of the public, adding that more training camps would be beneficial for the side.
