Heavy rain and a hailstorm struck Lahore and adjoining areas on Wednesday, bringing relief after intense heat during the day.
Rain continued intermittently in several parts of the city, with some areas receiving heavy showers while others witnessed light rainfall. The weather in Lahore turned pleasant after the prolonged spell of hot weather.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), intermittent rain is likely to continue during the next 24 hours.
Rain was reported in various localities of Lahore, including Kalma Chowk, Liberty Chowk and areas surrounding the Railway Station.
Officials said the rainfall occurred due to a localised weather development system. The rise in temperature and atmospheric pressure contributed to the rain.
Separately, the Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) said more than 55 feeders tripped in different circles owing to rain, strong winds and hail.
Another 23 feeders were affected in several areas of the city.
The Lesco has said that the restoration work on affected feeders began in phases immediately after the rain subsided. Field teams remain on alert to restore electricity supply at the earliest.
Consumers have been asked to contact the LESCO helpline on 118 for complaints regarding power supply.
The Lesco spokesperson said the company was taking all possible measures to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply to consumers.
Rain, strong winds and hail disrupted electricity supply in several parts of Lahore as LESCO teams began restoration work.
