Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Sunday that the nation had stood shoulder to shoulder with the armed forces like a solid wall.
Addressing a ceremony at the Pakistan Monument in Islamabad marking one year since the victory of Marka-e-Haq, he stated that Pakistan’s skies were dominated by its air force and wreckage of enemy aircraft lay everywhere, while the adversary sought a ceasefire within four hours.
He said Almighty Allah had turned Marka-e-Haq into a great victory, and that the martyrs had nurtured the soil of the homeland with their sacred blood.
The prime minister has said that India had used Pahalgam as a pretext for baseless allegations, while Pakistan maintained patience and restraint and had offered an investigation into the incident.
He recalled that a warning had earlier been issued to the enemy from the grounds of the Kakool academy, and that the armed forces responded decisively when mosques and children were targeted in an unprovoked assault.
He noted that the air force responded with historical resolve, forcing the adversary into retreat, with international mediation contributing to the ceasefire.
He paid tribute to the Field Marshal for leadership and bravery, and commended the Air Chief and naval leadership for their role in the conflict.
The premier has stated that China had extended full support to Pakistan, and expressed gratitude to the leadership of Turkiye and the Saudi Crown Prince.
PM Shehbaz has announced that May 10 would be observed annually as Marka-e-Haq Day.
