Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Lahore President Faisal Mir on Friday led a public rally in Johar Town to express solidarity with the Pakistan Army and celebrate the historic national victory.
Thousands of workers, students, lawyers, traders and labourers joined the demonstration in a display of unity and patriotism. Addressing the “Marka-e-Haq” rally, Faisal Mir credited President Asif Ali Zardari with bringing political forces and national institutions together at a critical moment. He said the president’s leadership had united the nation behind the armed forces.
Mir also praised PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for his diplomatic efforts as foreign minister, saying his visits to world capitals had countered the Indian narrative at international forums and projected Pakistan as a responsible global power.
He paid tribute to Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, saying his leadership and strategy had dealt a decisive setback to the enemy and strengthened national unity. Mir said the PPP saluted every soldier, officer, martyr and veteran, adding that the party would continue to stand alongside the armed forces.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the rally, PPP leader Majeed Ghori has also praised Field Marshal Asim Munir, saying his decisions based on national honour had strengthened the country during a difficult period.
Party leaders said the nation paid tribute to its armed forces, martyrs and veterans for their sacrifices in defence of the country. They added that Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos had thwarted the enemy’s designs and strengthened national pride.
A military band performed during the rally, which was attended by several PPP leaders, including Afraz Naqvi, Hassan Ashraf Bhatti, Fayyaz Bhatti, Munir Dagran, Shahzada Naeem Raza, Mian Shahid Abbas, Khurram Farooq, Manzar Abbas Khokhar, Tariq Saeed Jatt, Amir Naseer Butt, Rao Shujaat, Maqsuma Bukhari, Nargis Khan and Agha Taqi.
