A resolution commending Pakistan for its mediation efforts in the Iran war has been tabled in the US Congress. The resolution was introduced in the House of Representatives by Democratic Congressman Al Green.
The resolution praised Pakistan for its efforts and facilitation in support of peace. It said Pakistan has emerged as a key mediator in the conflict and has played an important role in advancing talks between the parties.
According to the resolution, Pakistan is providing a safe and reliable venue for peace negotiations. It also said Pakistan is viewed by all parties involved in the conflict as an impartial mediator.
War casualties cited in resolution
The resolution noted that 13 American soldiers have so far been killed in the war. It added that more than 399 US soldiers have been injured.
The resolution said Pakistan has faced nationwide closures and difficulties while hosting diplomatic delegations. Despite these challenges, it said Pakistan continued efforts to support constructive dialogue.
Role in advancing negotiations
The resolution stated that Pakistan expressed serious efforts by the US and Israel to end the war with Iran. It added that Pakistan played a fundamental and important role in making constructive talks possible and helping the process reach such a conclusion.
