Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has underscored Pakistan’s growing role in promoting global peace, citing recent diplomatic developments as a reflection of international trust.
Addressing the 6th International Message of Islam Conference organized by the Pakistan Ulema Council, the prime minister said Pakistan is actively contributing to global peace, dialogue, and trust.
He congratulated the organizers, including the International Council for the Protection of the Holy Shrines, calling the gathering a powerful example of unity and love within the Muslim Ummah.
Shehbaz Sharif said the presence of scholars and distinguished guests from around the world reflects Islam’s core values of peace, tolerance, and brotherhood.
He stressed that the challenges facing the Muslim world can be resolved through unity, mutual respect, and exemplary character.
Iran-US talks
Referring to recent talks between Iran and the United States, the prime minister said both sides coming together in Islamabad at Pakistan’s invitation is clear evidence of global confidence.
He termed the development a positive step towards regional peace and stability.
Praise for Saudi crown prince
The prime minister paid tribute to Mohammed bin Salman, praising his “effective role” in facilitating peace efforts.
He also acknowledged the contributions of China, Turkey, and other friendly countries, while highlighting the diplomatic efforts of Ishaq Dar.
In addition, he commended Asim Munir for playing a key role in bringing parties towards ceasefire and dialogue.
Shehbaz Sharif noted that it was the first time since 1979 that American and Iranian leadership met face-to-face in Islamabad.
He described the talks as a historic achievement, attributing the success to Pakistan’s strategy, sincerity, and determination.
The prime minister said relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have further strengthened in recent developments.
He emphasized that the protection and unity of the Two Holy Mosques remain a top priority, reflecting the deep-rooted bond between the two nations.
Clear stand on peace
Reaffirming Pakistan’s stance, the prime minister said the country has always upheld a balanced and principled position on global peace.
He stressed that elements promoting division or terrorism do not represent Islam, adding that the nation stands united from Peshawar to Karachi.
In his concluding remarks, Shehbaz Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s principled stance on Palestine and Kashmir.
He assured continued moral, diplomatic, and political support for oppressed people in both regions until their rights are achieved.
Separately, the prime minister welcomed the decision by Donald Trump to temporarily suspend “Project Freedom” in the Strait of Hormuz.
He described the move as timely and important for reducing regional tensions, thanking the US president for what he termed bold leadership.
