China has declared the war by the United States and Israel against Iran unlawful.
According to a news agency, during his visit to China, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Beijing. The two leaders exchanged views on the latest regional situation and discussed regional and global developments as well as bilateral relations.
The Chinese foreign minister has said that China stood ready to extend full co-operation to ease tensions, adding that a complete ceasefire was indispensable and that the region was passing through a delicate phase.
He said direct engagement between the two sides was essential.
Araghchi has said that Iran would accept only a fair and comprehensive agreement, adding that his country valued China’s firm stance. He said China was a close friend of Iran and that co-operation would grow stronger under the present circumstances.
The Iranian foreign minister has said that the war amounted to open aggression and a violation of international law, adding that Iran would make every effort in negotiations to safeguard its legitimate rights and interests.
It is pertinent to note that the Iranian foreign minister is visiting China at the invitation of Chinese authorities. Abbas Araghchi arrived in China a week before the expected visit of US President Donald Trump.
